Kells St John Celtic Cross Tattoo Design
A beautiful tiny detail from the 9th c. Book of Kells portrait of Saint John on page 291v., positioned below the hand of the Evangelist.
In the original it is not much bigger than the size of a postage stamp.... is there ANY doubt that the Book of Kells was illustrated by Angels?
Tattoo designs purchased from LuckyFish Art are instantly delivered in the form of a multi-page PDF download. No shipping or tax will be charged.
Why pay for these tattoo images? You will guarantee the best possible result for your own tattoo by providing your local professional tattoo artist with the highest quality image to work from. Celtic designs are hard enough to tattoo correctly when you start with a perfectly symmetrical stencil; give your artist a good clear pattern to work with and you are ensuring that you will get a better quality result. Most studios have only a few reference books of Celtic designs, and many may not have much experience installing them. Bringing in a design that has been specifically customized to be a beautiful Celtic tattoo will help your artist achieve a result of which you will both be proud. These designs are drawn for ease of application, and will yield a lifetime of enjoyment. For a few dollars you can avoid having to use a fuzzy internet printout or a page torn from a magazine for your pattern. You can show up at your local studio with a clean workable image ready to go!

TATTOO PHOTO: This lets you see an example of the tattoo installed, and is meant to serve as a starting point, to help you visualize. In this case, this tattoo was a cover-up, so you can see a lot of light grey in the actual knotwork lines in the photo, covering the old tattoo. |

LINE ART: This is a high quality image suitable for printing at any size you might need, and ready to be made into a tattoo stencil

SHADING: Usually I include at least one pencil-shaded version, to give the artist an idea of how I would shade this design. They may want to do it differently, but I like to provide a sample of the way I shade to make the weaves look more dimensional. I think it looks like the weave in wicker, and shadowing it accentuates the crucial overs and unders. |
|
COLOR: Also included will be at least one, and often several, color versions. As you can see here that will usually show how coloring the design itself can look, and how using shading in the design and coloring in the background can look. My personal preference is usually to shade the design and then put color in the negative space, behind it (like the first purple color example here). That way you get the best of both techniques, and the colored background tends to lift the shaded parts up visually and give another sense of depth and dimension. |
"ReadMe" Text:
The first part of the file is the READ ME text. This is filled with my suggestions about how to do a quality Celtic tattoo. I have been specializing in this particular form of tattooing since 1984 and have a few tips and tricks that I would like to pass on to your local tattoo artist. I include this information because while they may have had a lot of experience they might not have done a lot of Celtic designs, so our mutual goal is the best possible tattoo for you. They might know all the ideas already, but maybe there is something in it that will be helpful or instructive to them.

Testimonials From Happy Customers:
I recently purchased a butterfly tattoo from LuckyFish Art. I have been looking for a very long time for just the right one. It had to be delicate, a little spirited or funny, feminine, artistic, meaningful, and on the smaller end of the size scale. I had a specific piece in my head but I'm not an artist so I couln't render it for a tattoo artist. And this is it--exactly from LuckyFish Art and so I'm ecstatic! It's going to be used as a mother/daughter double butterfly piece to signify our love. We are both very excited and can't wait to get the piece done.
In terms of the shopping experience, it was EXCEPTIONAL in all areas. I received a detailed cofirmation email as soon as the order was processed. It included all the required addresses, phone numbers, and contact names. Customer service was of the highest quality, and the images easily downloadable.
One extra thing LuckyFish Art did which was quite unusual was to include a Read Me file which included very detailed instructions for the local tattoo artist to work specfically on a complicated Celtic design and all its intricacies . . . So, A+++ to LuckyFish Art. I will be back and I will be sending friends and family.
Thank you so much!!!

I am exceptionally happy with my purchase and was surprised that there were several options included of the design I purchased. This of course made it very easy for the artist I used to make a clear stencil and the resulting work is stunning!
I was pleased with the prompt download of material and of course the price was fair. I had been researching my purchase for some time and used the merchants web site many times in conjunction with other web sites and was pleased at the amount of information posted on the merchants website.
Overall, I am totally happy with all aspects of my dealings with the merchant. Couldn't have been better...

Pat Fish has specialized in Celtic tattooing since 1984, and has designed each original image in this collection specifically to be an effective tattoo. Many of the designs are inspired by her research into the illuminated manuscripts and carved standing stones in Ireland, Scotland, and the rest of the British Isles. Patterns have been chosen for their strong symbolism, aesthetic appeal, and suitability for the tattoo medium. You can learn more about Pat Fish HERE.
